School Closure Information (Updated 3/18/2020)
What will Ms. Cesari be doing during the school closure to help my child keep their mind active?
I’m so glad you asked!!!
Though WCPSS has not yet mandated any OFFICIAL distance learning, I wanted to provide some resources and opportunities for students and their families who may be looking for educational resources and activities to keep brains active during school closure.
I want to emphasize that NONE OF THIS WORK WILL BE GRADED, checked for completion, and is all completely optional!
If you have follow up questions, want some more detail, or need any kind of academic help (not just for 7th grade science) please reach out to me via email ([email protected]) or on the Remind app. I will be regularly checking both of these throughout the weeks we are scheduled to be closed, and I’m more than happy to assist in keeping ALL students’ brains active while they’re at home.
Here are the opportunities and resources I’m currently working on to facilitate optional educational opportunities while students are at home:
This GOOGLE FOLDER and its contents are all LIVING DOCUMENTS - I’ll be regularly editing and adding to this folder and its contents over the course of the next few weeks as I create more resources and discover new ideas to engage students while at home!
(I’m also super open to suggestions - just shoot me an email [email protected] if you have ideas of ways other parents/students/families can engage in science content while at home with limited access to resources! It takes a village!)

- This GOOGLE FOLDER chock full of resources - from Netflix suggestions, to podcasts, to favorite apps and activities. Most things are related to science, but I’ve also included some of my favorites for physical activity, reading/writing, and even meditation! I want to provide as many resources as I can for the well-being of the WHOLE child to help my students and their families in any way I can.
- Article & discussion of the day: I’ll be posting one scientific article per day on each of mine and Mrs. Schultz’s 7th Grade Science Google Classroom pages. Students and their families are encouraged to read, discuss, and comment on the article to engage in digital discussion about the topic of the article. NO ARTICLES WILL BE POSTED ABOUT CORONAVIRUS in order to alleviate some of the anxiety and information overload regarding this topic. I don’t know about all of you, but I need a mental and emotional break from it. Students are also encouraged to post other articles and/or videos related to science class on our Google Classroom feeds!
- Flipgrid video responses: Flipgrid is a free app and website where students can share quick videos and video responses. I’m creating several topics for them to discuss so they can still get some face-time with their peers! There are class specific Flipgrid pages - see below for your class’s code.
- Schultz’s classes - schultzscience
- Cesari 3rd - cesarisci3
- Cesari 5th - cesarisci5
- Cesari 6th - cesarisci6
- Cesari 7th - cesarisci7
