Meet the Teacher!
This is my fourth year teaching science and my first year at Moore Square Middle School, and I couldn't be more excited! I'm looking forward to an awesome year full of new adventures in exploring the world of science!
As a Raleigh native, born and raised in the City of Oaks, I went to Hilburn Drive (now Hilburn Academy) for elementary school, Martin Middle School and Leesville High School. I attended Elon University as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and majored in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in science. I'm a hip hop dancing, book-devouring, nature-loving puppy parent, teacher, and lifelong learner. I'm most passionate about creating learning experiences for my students that are engaging and relevant and developing scientific literacy skills that students can apply to the real world.
In the summer of 2016 I worked at the Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh as a Kenan Fellow. I worked under scientists Dr. Stephanie Schuttler and Dr. Roland Kays on the eMammal research project. Along with two other teachers, I developed citizen science lesson plans, which I hope to bring to my students this year.
The year 2018 has brought with it many opportunities for professional growth and travel. In January and February, I was selected to teach for the Talented Youth Program for two weeks in Beijing, China. I was honored to have been given the opportunity to teach dance and musical theater to some of Beijing's brightest kindergarteners through 8th graders.
Now, I'm looking forward to yet another adventure - Belize! Along with a small group of NC educators, I'll be traveling to and throughout Belize, learning about the environment and ways to enhance environmental education in my classroom. Check out our BLOG to follow my adventures while I'm gone!
I'm looking forward to a year full of exploration, new experiences, and, of course, lots of fun! Stay up to date with what's going on in Ms. Cesari's science classes by visiting this webpage for regular updates.
